This was the final leg of a longer Southeast Asia trip. I flew Saigon (SGN) โ Kuala Lumpur (KUL) on AirAsia for โน2,384, then Kuala Lumpur โ Kochi (COK) on Malindo Air for โน9,503 to head home. If you're planning a Malaysia-only trip, direct flights from most major Indian cities to KUL on AirAsia or IndiGo are usually cheap and frequent.
โ Good news for 2026 travelers: Malaysia is visa-free for Indian passport holders, extended until December 31, 2026, for stays up to 30 days. This exemption started in December 2023. When I visited in November 2022, this policy didn't exist yet, so I applied for an eVisa (โน5,745) โ you don't need to do this anymore.
Jalan Alor is KL's most famous street food strip โ packed with stalls every evening. I spent one night eating my way down the street, and had lunch near Petronas the next day.

With only 2 nights, I kept it simple and free. No paid attractions felt necessary โ Kuala Lumpur's biggest icon costs nothing to see.
Bought a local prepaid SIM in Malaysia for around 20 MYR (~โน350). Easy to find at the airport or convenience stores in the city.

Skip city-centre exchange counters โ I got better rates at money changers slightly outside the main tourist areas. Compare a couple of counters before exchanging, and avoid the airport entirely for the worst rates.
